        Cartoon Character

Cartoon Character.jpg

For this project, I chose to create a cartoon character of Winnie the Pooh, using a combination of organic and geometric shapes to capture his iconic form. I used organic shapes for the soft, flowing lines of his shirt, which convey warmth and comfort, while the geometric shapes in his body and head give him the round, symmetrical silhouette that makes Pooh instantly recognizable. The process was enjoyable and surprisingly easy, and I had fun bringing this beloved character to life. I hope my audience notices the small details, like the subtle curves of Pooh's ears and the folds in his shirt, which help add depth and personality to the design. I’m particularly proud of how the lines turned out, achieving a level of precision that makes the character look very similar to the original. Overall, I’m happy with the final result and look forward to refining my technique further in future projects.

Original Character

For my original cartoon character, I reimagined Hello Kitty as a reflection of myself, blending the playful simplicity of the iconic design with personal elements like my curly hair and skin tone. Using Adobe Illustrator, I began by tracing a picture of Hello Kitty with the pen tool, then added a reference image of a character with curly hair, which I also traced to capture the texture and shape similar to my own. The character’s design combines geometric shapes for the nose, clothes, and legs, with organic shapes for the body to create a more natural and flowing appearance. Through this process, I wanted to highlight the details in the hair and demonstrate my dedication and hard work, hoping that viewers would appreciate not only the technical aspects of the composition but also the personal touch that reflects my identity and creativity. This piece is both a tribute to a childhood favorite and an exploration of self-expression, showing how art can serve as a mirror to our lives.
